Nice hut, currently with limited operation. Toilets not available and only eat and drink outside, which is absolutely fine in times of Corona. Great view of mountains that certainly have some name and where in 1912 some Bavarian Sepp rammed his flag into the ground.

Dear August Schuster House, I have a lot of understanding for the current situation and hope that it will soon be back to normal. But on Sunday I didn't have to sell me a meat loaf with such an old bread roll.

Drinks and simple food at fair prices. Lentil soup, Wiener, pretzels, etc. Toilets are still not available. For a short stop on the way to the Teufelstättkopf or back, it is still ideal.

Nice hut owners and a great landscape - what more could you want?

Very tasty little hut meals for a good price and friendly service. The lentil soup is a super concentrate. It is a pity that the toilets are closed and that this was not indicated in advance. If there is only kiosk service, a sofa or shelter would not be a luxury.

At the moment only limited operation. Kiosk with drinks and simple meals. Only a few seats. Hardly any shade. Tip: when you come to the August-Schuster-Haus there is a refrigerator with cold drinks for self-service on the right-hand side (slightly hidden). Is cheaper than the kiosk.

When we were there, the toilets were being rebuilt. Self service. Because of Corona only outside sales. Potato soup delicious. Prices cheap for a hut.

The outside of the hut is open during the day. There is food through the window. Nights are currently not possible. The hut host was super nice and helpful. 👍

We were up at Corona time. Take a short break on the terrace and buy something to drink. The hut is currently being renovated. Will probably come back again and stay here

After we found a parking space near the Schleifmühle (Unterammergau), our hike to the August-Schuster-Haus began. We climbed in wonderful weather and had a beautiful view of the mountain and valley upon arrival. The dining room and terrace were well attended, but we still found a nice place outside. Food and drinks were simple but good. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I was up here for the first time last week. It was not busy, which I personally like. I took a small mountaineering meal (Leberkäse and KaSalat) and a cyclist. Food was ok. KaSalat could have been a little better. Food was not much choice itself, which is ok, since there was little operation. But the view has made it all right. 🙂

Totally overcrowded hut. Were there at the end of the season (two last week of October) and still heaps of people there. I do not want to know how it will be in the summer. Nevertheless, the food was delicious (lentil stew) and the hosts very friendly. If you also want to climb a mountain, you can head to the Teufelstättkopf. Probably not 30 minutes from the cottage and good to climb.

Went here on a college trip. Excellent food/beer. Really enjoyed the hike and the sleeping quarters were fun. Plan on coming back again.

... mountain hut in the style of the 50s, but unfortunately also stopped there. Ok up there it is not easy, but the food is very banal -Preis performance is reasonably-but it does not really taste great for children ... And that's a great Familienwanderziel ... A bit more ingenuity you can already expect ...

Tap beer above 1500 meters with great view. Not many food options, but all taste great and help to fuel your hiking.
